Stone Sheep are one of the most highly sought after Trophy hunts that Fire Mountain Outfitters has to offer. Our rams have a wide color variation and a single band of rams can have salt & pepper to almost black rams with light faces. The average age of our sheep has been consistently 10 ½ years old for several years. We believe in taking the oldest possible rams we can, even if there’s a younger ram in the group that’s a little bigger. This is the best way to keep sheep on the mountain. All hunts for sheep are 1 on 1, 14 day excursions and although most of the sheep hunting is done on horseback, you will still need to hike so try to be in the best shape you possibly can. All our sheep hunts are fly in hunts starting out at one of our base camps or high alpine lakes and will be a spike out type hunt in either a wall tent, backpack tent or a small spike cabin.
